  • Regular scheduled promotional testing will be held approximately every two (2) to three (3) months (see "Upcoming Events" and "Class Attendance Requirements").

  • All students must satisfy their requirements for length of training, attendance, Belt Requirements, etc. and receive the Master Instructor’s recommendation in order to be eligible to take the next promotional test.

  • All test fees and other necessary items such as photos, written exams; essays and registration forms must be turned in at least two weeks prior to the test day.

  • If a student has already paid for a test and fails the test, the second test will be free of charge.

  • At the discretion of the Master Instructor, a special make-up promotional test will be made available for students who cannot attend the regular scheduled testing. Advanced students are required to test at the regular scheduled promotional test.

  • All students are required to take promotional tests as they are scheduled. Continuous non-attendance of the regular promotional test will be grounds for disciplinary action.

  • The Cho Dan Bo (recommended Black Belt) student may test for his/her full Black Belt six (6) months after promotion to Cho Dan Bo, provided Attitude, Belt and Attendance Requirements are met as well as receive the recommendation from the Master Instructor.

  • Children and Junior Black Belts under the age of 16 are allowed to receive a first- degree embroidered black belt and a first Poom certification from the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (KuKKiwon). A Poom certificate from the USNTF (United States National Tae Kwon Do Federation) and Mike’s Tae Kwon Do Academy Dan Certificate is also available upon request.

  • Bi-annually, all Black Belts must participate in a special testing to earn required number of credit tests for his/her next Dan rank advancement, as well as sharpen their skills in order to assist lower ranking belts. The number of credit tests required to advance will be at the discretion of the Master Instructor.

  • Master Rother will offer special belt recommendations at his discretion only, to those students who have made exceptional progress in their physical, mental and spiritual training, as well as for showing excellent Character and Attitude.

  • Promotional probation means there are some techniques or belt requirements that need to be improved upon within a set period of time, before student receives new rank. If student does not meet these belt requirements, the student must re-test within the next regular scheduled test. Student’s technique or belt requirements must be improved upon and demonstrated to the Master Instructor.



ACTION(S) FOR DISMISSAL


Any student of Mike’s Tae Kwon Do Academy of Martial Arts will be dismissed, if one or more of the following infraction(s) apply:

  1. Not giving a reason for non-attendance of classes for a (2) two-month period.
  2. Failing to attend (2) three regularly scheduled promotional tests.
  3. Anyone who talks poorly of, spreads rumors about, or holds in low esteem the character of other students, the school, instructor(s), or Master Instructor of Mike’s Tae Kwon Do Academy of Martial Arts.
  4. Any student who participates in another Martial Arts School teaching Tae Kwon Do and/or other programs taught by our school. However, students may seek the opportunity of participating in other martial arts, not taught at Mike’s TKD Academy, only after giving prior acknowledgement to Master Rother.
  5. Anyone participating in an illegal or immoral activity.
  6. Anyone using illegal drugs.
  7. Any student who receives (2) two “warnings” from the Master Instructor or any Instructor for various reasons and has not corrected his/her attitude/behavior.
  8. A student with multiple complaints against him/her from fellow students. These students will have his/her continued membership reviewed by a special committee made up by the School Instructors and decided by the Master Instructor. A fair opportunity will be given to both parties to be heard.
